Most of us have experienced some form of headache.
It may be the tension headache at the end of a stressful day that spreads across both sides of your head. Or the throbbing migraine, where all you want to do is disappear into a dark room.
What we do not always know is what we should do about it. When it comes to treating and managing headaches there are lots of variables to consider.
Chiropractors are well placed to assist you in determining what sort of headache you have and providing appropriated advice and treatment for you. Each headache can mean something different so how we approach them will vary.
Something you can do to help is to try and become familiar with your headache. Keeping record of your headaches helps to recognise patterns which makes it easier to properly diagnose and manage your symptoms. Things to pay attention to include.
- The time of day
- Intensity (out of 10)
- Duration
- Associated symptoms (for example dizziness or nausea)
- Triggers (these may include, food, smell, stress)
The most important things to know is that you do not have to live with your headaches.
If you are unsure where to start, make a time with your chiropractor to see how they can help.
